Recycling Products

In the recycling park, waste receives a second chance at a useful life, and is designed to be recycled and reused again in the future.

Garden trimmings undergo a sorting process during which foreign waste is removed until only the trimmings remain. The trimmings are then chopped into chips by machines, and are used to create organic fertilizer (compost) for agriculture, as a ground covering, and for the production of green energy. The large logs are passed on to be reused as furniture: benches, shade structures, chairs, tables, and so on.

Construction Waste – This waste comes from building sites throughout the Dan region, and is mainly composed of concrete, other stone, and iron. At Hiriya, the waste undergoes a sorting process. Initially, the iron and wood are separated while the other elements are crushed and separated into sand and gravel. The end products are used as a filling substance to stabilize the garbage mound's slopes as part of the rehabilitation process.

Paper and cardboard are separated, compacted, and gathered in packets of approximately 800kg before being sent to paper recycling centers where they are turned into a variety of different paper products (wrapping paper, newspaper, sanitary paper, etc.).

Electronic and Electrical Devices – Refrigerators, washing machines, computers, water heaters, and other devices are collected and sent to special factories where they are disassembled and used for replacement parts in the electronic industry.

Biogas – This is created as a result of the natural fermentation and decomposition processes within the waste mountain. The biogas is a gas composed of 60% methane (CH4), and 40% carbon dioxide (CO2). It is used to create electricity, and as a clean alternative to existing fuels.

Important Note:
During the activity of the electric power plant, no odors or contaminating material is released into the environment, and the air remains clean!
