Transfer Station
On the foothills of Mount Hiriya, you can find one of the largest transfer stations for waste and garbage in the world. Each day, approximately 800 garbage trucks deposit 3,000 tons of household waste and garden trimmings, and 400 more trucks bring approximately 1,500 tons of construction waste from 18 local municipalities in the Dan metropolitan area. When the trucks enter the garbage site, they are directed to the transfer station and the different recycling facilities. There, they deposit the waste before it goes through the sorting and recycling processes. Exiting the site, the trucks are washed so that they can go back out and return with more garbage.
