Dear Visitors,
Each day, the Dan Municipal Sanitation Association receives approximately 2,800 tons of household waste, and deals with one of the most important challenges of modern life: waste treatment.
In recent years, Hiriya has been transformed from a landfill site into Israel's largest ecological center, where the most advanced recycling facilities in the world can be found.
The transfer center, recycling park, sorting facilities, and factories at the site are just the beginning of the "green revolution" in Israel. We see in the Hiriya rehabilitation project and the recycling park an important step towards a society that works from a standpoint of environmental responsibility, ensuring that we pass on a clean, green world to future generations.
This website has been created to let you get to know Hiriya up close, and to discover that the smell really isn't so bad! Come and stroll with us among the piles of garbage, visit the factories, and enjoy the unique green experience of what was once a waste mountain. Only together can we make garbage beautiful.
Yours,
Doron Sapir
Chairman, Dan Municipal Sanitation Association
Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv-Jaffa
